Review: Iron Man

I just saw Iron Man, the movie. First things first: it didn't suck, which means my review won't be as mean spirited and evil as you'd wish. The movie was certainly enough to keep me in my seat. For someone who has trouble sitting for more than a couple hours at a time (I get debilitating migraines and junk) that's a big deal. Iron Man also delivered for Robert Downey Jr. (a.k.a. Tony Stark) whose star is finally rising again. Made me proud to be a child of the 80s. Best of all, Gwyneth Paltrow didn't get on my nerves. This was easily her least annoying role ever. I even thought she was totally bangable in this flick, which proves how un-annoying she truly was. Way to go, Iron Man!

This is where Tony Stark threatens to use his repulsors on a Jehovah's Witness. It was way cool.

There's a lot going on in the picture. Almost too much, which hurt the last Spiderman film in my opinion. This version of Iron Man reminds me of the cartoon movie that came out in 2007 on DVD , except for the fact that I hated the cartoon movie. But instead of fighting the Mandarin (lame) Tony Stark battles Jeff Bridges, who plays Obadiah Stane who just happens to be the Iron Monger. I found it slightly annoying that Stane's armor was more powerful than Stark's. Still, both suits were powered by ... get this ... Tony Stark's wittle heart. Awww!

I'm not kidding. It's kinda weird, but it harkens back to the comics. If you don't know what I mean, then you're just not geeky enough. For shame.

Jeff Bridges smash!

The reviews for Iron Man have all been pretty solid. Some claimed that Iron Man was actually better than the X-Men. I wouldn't go quite that far. But it easily beats The Fantastic Four movies. Not that this is so tough to do... In case you're wondering, Stark doesn't get the bang Gwyneth Paltrow. Damn.

One piece of advice: don't leave the theater when the credits roll. There's a little foreshadowing of what's to come at the very end. Fans of "The Ultimates" comic books won't be sorry!
